Welcome to our page. MicroLink Devices' expertise is in the design and manufacture of III-V epitaxial material that is commonly found in today's mobile and smartphones. We also have developed a unique flexible solar cell technology that is highly efficient and lightweight. Our solar technology has been applied to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and has been used for personal remote power

generation, thereby opening up new applications and capabilities not possible with conventional thin film solar cell technologies.

MicroLink Devices Inc., is proud to support the next generation of innovators at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign!

With support from MicroLink Devices and Crosslight, the class competed in two distinct project competitions: MicroLink Devices Best Project Award and the Crosslight Best Project Award.

This spring, students in the ECE 443 LEDs and Solar Cells course at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The Grainger College of Engineering, rose to the challenge of solving real-world problems. From energy efficiency to advancements in health and communication, these students used their knowledge to design impactful projects around scalable energy conversion technologies.

🎓 It’s graduation season, and the University of North Dakota had an especially memorable ceremony this year! We’re thrilled to share that our very own President & CEO, Dr. Noren Pan, was awarded an honorary doctorate from UND in recognition of his outstanding contributions to science and engineering.
A Grand Forks native and co-founder of MicroLink Devices, Dr. Pan has led groundbreaking research in microwave and solar cell technologies—most recently advancing solar solutions for stratospheric flight. He also played a key role in establishing UND’s annual Stratospheric Operations and Research Symposium.

Join us in congratulating Dr. Pan on this well-deserved honor and his second PhD!

Registration is now open for the 2025 SOaRS Conference (April 24 & 25, 2025). MicroLink has supported this conference since its inception. This will be the 3rd annual conference, and this year it will be hosted by 3M at its corporate campus in St. Paul, Minnesota.

SOaRS aims to bring together lighter than air and heavier than air providers, enablers and customers that will help drive the rapid High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) and High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS) development.

Join us as the leaders in the emerging stratospheric industry gather to discuss challenges and opportunities, current and proposed platforms, payloads and power sources, and the latest success stories.

As industry leaders gather today for the first day of SOaRS at the University of North Dakota, we were thrilled to spend a portion of yesterday providing a tour of our new manufacturing facility in north Fargo to an impressive group of visitors. Stopping by for a visit yesterday were Ray Chan and Noren Pan from MicroLink Devices, Inc., Eric Follstad from U.S. Central Command and Chris Kerestes from the Air Force Research Laboratory - AFRL.

If you are planning on attending SOaRS this week, make sure to check in on our presentation at 3 p.m. Wednesday as we discuss the necessity of developing lighter, smaller and more efficient power modules.

MicroLink Devices is grateful for the attention we are garnering from our fine state. On Tuesday MicroLink Devices welcomed State Senator Ram Villivalam for a visit and a tour of our facilities. This week, MicroLink was pleased to host our dynamic Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky along with Manuel Lopez, Assistant Deputy Director of the Office of Regional Economic Development, Margo Markopolous, Deputy Director of Trade and Investment, and Andrew Goczkowski, Sr. Advisor and Director of Special Projects and Communications Director Alex Moore, both with the office of Jan Schakowsky.

The Congresswoman and other guests were on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony for our new state-of-the-art Test & Assembly Lab, as part of MicroLink’s facility expansion. MicroLink is the fourth company in Illinois to receive a REV incentive grant from the DCEO. REV Illinois is designed to bolster Illinois manufacturing and helps support MicroLink’s continued advanced solar cell research and array fabrication in the HALE UAV, and space markets.
