We took the ‘50 Convertible out today and put some miles on it for its first maiden voyage. Everything went great and it drives fantastic.

Breathe Baby Breath!
Had time install these cast iron headers on the Mercury. I’ve had them stashed away for years always knowing I had a set of Fenton for the right project. Once I got them out they don’t say Fenton anywhere but whatever. Also something I like to do on Flatheads is glue the gasket to the manifold with 3M spray adhesive. Makes installation much easier.

‘50 Mercury is looking good. All lighting is working properly. This car needed a 12V conversion pretty bad.
Added NOS hood ornament, NOS hood crest, replated lower hood trim then I masked it and shot the letters in semi glass black engine paint.
Got the front of the car looking as mint as I can. Last summer I installed NOS grille half’s and NOS park light bodies. Dropped Spindles installed also ✅ I’ll be adding some used 3” blocks I had here this week. We installed dropped coils and dropped leafs last summer.
I’ll be excited to get it back on the ground soon.

‘50 Mercury dash went back together really nicely. New lens, gauge faces cleared and needles done in white fluorescent paint. Radio converted to 12V and Bluetooth and dual voice speakers front and rear.

The ‘50 Mercury is officially completely rewired and 12V.
I did the final wrapping of the loom under the hood today. Came out really nice and traditional looking. I had to butcher a reproduction main harness and used a Rebel 9+3 under the dash where it transitions from plastic coated to cloth. Since the Rebel has the horn relay installed and it’s a 1 wire PowerGen I faked the wiring on the firewall because I didn’t want to remove those items.
