Just completed a special project that were a lot of firsts for me, and provided plenty of opportunities for growth.. something non automotive or boat related, figuring out speeds and feeds to machine aluminum on the router bed vs a mill, hand applying coolant for 40 hours, and tiling multiple panels that needed to be indexed together complete this 4x8 sign. Finished off with backlighting that can dance to the music, or be statically set to any color. Be sure to check it out at the Carleton Hotel!

Typical Shootout shenanigans started with frying the clutches that operate the AWD system Sunday morning during test and tune after qualifying 4th on Friday. Had to quickly throw something together to flash on the transmission to keep the car out of limp mode.. which essentially consisted of running the car in RWD mode immediately after launch.

Unfortunately, the only way I could try it out was during first round of eliminations.. and thankfully it worked. And continued to work for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round all the way to 2nd round of semi finals. Lost by 0.007 on a double break out.. I thought I had got off the throttle enough, but apparently the car decided it wanted to run a PB so my typical coast time wasn’t enough. A little bummed, but can’t be too upset considering this morning I didn’t even think I’d be able to run, and finished 3rd out of the 21 car field. Also set a PB of 138 MPH, which is quite impressive for a full weight car on stock block and turbos.

Of course, the best part was hanging with old friends and making new ones!
