We are thrilled to share our latest project for the Decatur Housing Authority, GA. Our team collaborated with PRAXIS3 to create a modern, sustainable space aimed at fostering equality and accessible housing. 🏑

The new two-story structure was designed to use passive technology throughout both levels, which contain a resident training center, client and administrative offices, and DHA board and meeting rooms. β˜€οΈ

We faced infrastructure challenges on the small site but prevailed thanks to innovative design by architect Sarah Butler and her team, combined with outstanding leadership from Project Manager Michael Attenborough and Superintendent Jonathan Martin.πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ—οΈ $1.65 million HVAC replacement underway at First Baptist Church of Newnan Georgia πŸ—οΈ

It was hard to miss the 200-tonne crane and jib stretching 250 feet into the air over historic City of Newnan (Government) last week.

FBC reached a major milestone during the extensive replacement of an outdated HVAC system serving its Sanctuary and Sunday School Building. We previously served the church on a $1.4 million renovation in 2016. While the upgraded spaces and sanctuary improvements met the congregation’s needs, the dated HVAC system did not.

β€œWith these old two-pipe systems, it’s really cumbersome to change over from heat to cool or cool to heat,” explained Superintendent Kyle Ibsen as he oversaw a skilled crew with Acrane Rental hoist the new 4,000-pound chiller unit over one of the church buildings to its resting place on a galvanized steel platform on the roof of another. β€œWe’re going to a modern four-pipe system. Before, it was at least a day, sometimes a day and a half, of downtime between heat and cold. Now, in the spring and fall months, when it's cool in the morning and warm in the evenings, the temperature will just automatically adjust.” ❄️

In addition to carefully coordinating the installation of the enormous chiller, Ibsen is collaborating with Daryl Schrock of Addison Smith Mechanical Contractor, INC. and his crews to finish ductwork in the sanctuary building, replace air handler units, and complete extensive pipe fitting on schedule and within budget.

β€œWe had to weld and run about 300 feet of steel pipe to both this new unit on the roof and a boiler located in the basement. Next, we will begin hooking the unit up, running electricity to it,” Ibsen continued. Maintaining our strong commitment to hiring local subcontractors, Headley Construction will use Shenandoah Electrical Services to perform that work. ⚑

Pickleball has arrived in Tyrone! Gates opened at 8:00 this morning!

08/22/2023

The date that many of you have been waiting for is finally set! The Town's new Pickleball facility at Dorothea Redwine Park is opening Friday, September 1st at 8 a.m.!

Facility rules are available at https://www.tyronega.gov/pickleball

Please Note:

1. The contractor still has a few "punch list" items to complete and will be on site sporadically working on those tasks through September. They have been asked to do their best to minimize their impact on court access when they're working, but there may be a day or two when we have to limit access to the public. We will make those announcements on this FB page.

2. Please do not park along Byewood Lane - there is plenty of parking in the paved lot.

Who's going to be first?

"Superintendent Tim High is a great, great, great, great, great guy." - Allen Mitchell, Director of Community Development for It's In DeKalb

We couldn't agree more! Along with our Project Manager Michael Attenborough, Tim High expertly guided construction of the newly opened East Dekalb Community and Senior Center in Stone Mountain through a very challenging time in our industry. Facing lockdowns, supply chain issues, and many design complexities, our team remained focused on delivering a top-quality product for residents in Districts 4 & 7.

The 24,000 square foot facility features a heated saltwater pool, a large commercial kitchen, a multipurpose dining room with movable partition and stage, an aerobics and dance room, a fitness studio, locker rooms, a billiards and game room, locker rooms, Wi-Fi and security cameras, a covered drop-off area at the main entrance, a pedestrian plaza, and spacious patio.

The project was funded through a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development community development block grant. These grants support community development activities to build stronger and more resilient communities like Welcome to Atlanta's DeKalb County.

We thank Director Mitchell, Dekalb County CEO Michael Thurmond, Commissioner Steve Bradshaw, Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, Commissioner Robert Patrick-District 1, Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson, Commissioner Michelle Long Spears, Commissioner Larry Johnson, and Commissioner Ted Terry for prioritizing seniors in our shared community.
