In recognition of National Homelessness Awareness Month, Covenant House International once again united communities across the country through its annual Sleep Out, a fundraising event that brings attention to the ongoing youth homelessness crisis. This year, JB&B’s Social Awareness and Inclusion Initiative (SAII) continued its participation, with our New York team joining the Sleep Out in the city and our Philadelphia team taking part in Covenant House Pennsylvania’s 25th-anniversary event at Citizens Bank Park in partnership with the Phillies.
This year’s experience gave our team a small glimpse into the challenges too many young people face each day and reminded us of the privileges we often take for granted. This event is not to mimic what the homeless face but instead to bring awareness and stand in solidarity with them. Hearing stories of resilience and hardship, along with stories of success and support, deepened our appreciation for the critical support Covenant House provides to help young people rebuild their lives.
