Dwell’s, “Where Exactly $7.5 Million Is Going to Preserve Frank Lloyd Wright’s Most Famous Home” covers the length and breadth of the three-year phased restoration of Fallingwater, designed and administered by Architectural Preservation Studio. As this project nears completion, APS's Pamela Jerome speaks about the complexities of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and why including river pebbles in the concrete may not have been the brightest idea.

Architect Pamela Jerome shares the challenges of undertaking a three-year renovation remedying decades of damage at Fallingwater: “Over ninety years of water have passed through its stone walls.”

Architectural Preservation Studio, DPC’s Pamela Jerome, and Stéphanie Gérard visited frozen Fallingwater during the coldest weeks this winter to supervise the ongoing exterior restoration. As they say, “a photo is worth a thousand words.” See below

Last month, our own Stephanie Gérard, Studio Manager and Senior Project Manager at APS, was invited to deliver the commencement speech to the 2025 graduating class of architecture at the University of Liège in Belgium.

Stephanie shared how a professional path is rarely linear and encouraged future architects to stay curious and lead with integrity.

We’re proud to see her expertise recognized and grateful that her experience could inspire the next generation of architects. We wish the entire graduating class every success as they begin this new chapter.

Looking forward to another 100 years! APS is incredibly proud to celebrate the rededication of the New London City Hall! Congratulations to Mayor Passero, City Council Members, and all residents of New London!

Architectural Preservation Studio was the architect for the award-winning restoration of the New London City Hall. Initially constructed in 1856, the Italianate City Hall was expanded and given a Beaux Arts façade in 1912. This comprehensive restoration included restoration of the Council Chamber, detailed plaster ornamentation, decorative murals, marble mosaic floors, historic light fixtures, the marble grand staircase, and the granite exterior. Also included were expansion of the Clerk’s vault, replication of original entrance doors, new handicapped compliant entrance ramp and toilets, mechanical upgrades, and abatement of hazardous materials – plus locating and carefully extricating the 1912 time capsule and preserving the items within.

Cheers to the history, preservation, and the future of New London!

“Hot off the Press” – APS’ paper was just published in the latest issue of the peer-reviewed journal, APT Bulletin (Vol. CV), entitled "Challenges in Concrete Conservation for the Central Market in Hong Kong." Congratulations to the APS team that worked on the project. They transformed an Art Moderne-style building dating to 1939, which had been abandoned for 20 years, into a vibrant part of the community. https://www.jstor.org/stable/48839199
