Earlier this month, we celebrated the 5th Annual 7x24 Exchange Metro NY WiMCO Spring Cocktail Reception, and what an incredible milestone it was. We were back at Jack Doyle’s with over 130 attendees, the room was filled with energy, connection, and the amazing Metro NY WiMCO community we've built over the past five years. We were also treated to a fantastic performance by the talented dancers from the O’Malley Irish Dance Academy, giving a nod to St. Patrick’s Day. Some of these incredible young dancers recently competed in Ireland, and others are heading to Chicago for the World Competition. I couldn’t resist trying to recruit a few of them to consider a future in the data center industry as we’re always looking for ambitious, high-performing talent!
Looking back over the past five years, I can still picture our early brainstorming meetings around the TLM Group conference room table and a few happy hours planning our very first event. Since then, we’ve come a long way. We’ve hosted Paint & Sip events, Afternoon Tea in the West Village, we had a Clay Shooting team at an Empire chapter event (which was an absolute blast), and many happy hours. We’ve also presented to high school students about data centers and encouraged them to consider a career in our industry. Along the way we’ve created something special, a community where we support each other, reconnect at industry conferences, and continue expanding the circle with new members.
And we’re not slowing down. Our next WiMCO adventure? Running with the wild. WiMCO has a team participating in the Bronx Zoo’s “Run for the Wild” 5K this April. If we can run with the wild animals of the data center industry every day, running a 5K in the Bronx should be a walk in the ZOO. 🐾
A huge thank you to our members and sponsors who help make these events possible: Monarch Electric, Legrand, KW Mission Critical, Ambient Data Centers, WB Engineering, Cooper Electric, and RE Power.
Here’s to the next five years of Metro NY WiMCO and continuing to grow the community, support each other, and bring more talented women into the data center industry.
