The ReCONNstruction Center

The ReCONNstruction Center Volunteer-run. New Britain, CT. Open Fri–Sun.

The ReCONNstruction Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to save the environment by keeping usable building materials out of landfills and in our community. The mission of The ReCONNstruction Center is to promote environmental and social sustainability by salvaging and acquiring building materials and selling them at prices affordable to average wage earners, and to support these

activities specifically in urban areas, recognizing those locations as essential to the long term sustainability of the economy and culture.

Reclaimed cottagecore cabinet set. The strap hinges and solid wood doors have been painted white.

In addition to pics of the actual cabinets, I included a poorly rendered AI approximation of a mock up.

It’s a vibe.

Being sold as an 7 piece set. $400

• (2) Upper cabinets – 24”W x 30”H x 12”D
• (1) Upper – 29 3/4”W x 18”H x 12”D

This reclaimed maple kitchette was pulled from a home renovation project.

Photos include the actual cabinets plus AI-generated layout mockups with measurements.

Please don’t message about measurements; I answer every message that comes through, to be polite, and nearly 98% of the time, the info is included here. If there are nuanced measurements you need, come in person to measure.

I already got god knows how old water in my hair removing the sink from this set. This set and I have strict boundaries now.

We unfortunately don’t have the space to build full display kitchens at ReCONN.

Please note: the black granite countertop shown in the photos is NOT included. It was damaged and is being cut down into smaller usable sections.

Reclaimed maple bases and upper kitchenette, $1100

I’ve started building kitchenette “sets” from our current cabinet inventory.

Right now, these are being offered as complete and can’t be split apart. If they don’t move as sets, we may separate them later.

Cabinet A is a blind corner cabinet. The spot marked with the X goes against the wall, and another cabinet connects perpendicular to it to create a clean right angle instead of an exposed corner cabinet.

I included a VERY bad AI mockup so non-builder humans can understand the blind corner concept.

ChatGPT and I are currently fighting because it swapped the cabinet faces around and could NOT be coaxed to change them, but the general concept is there.

Another great weekend comes to a close. Here are some of the reclaimed materials that went home to find a new life!!

Opening the store is only possible due to our volunteers’ generosity with their time. If you stopped by this weekend, it’s likely you met Chad, Nick, Nicole or, our new teammate, Heather!

Thanks for supporting our mission.

We’re open today, Friday 10–5P.

First repurpose from our deconstructed wooden louvered door: name badges for the 2026 crew.

Did you know ReCONN is 100% volunteer run? We’ve got a few new faces joining the effort today, but this little neighborhood reuse spot survived the pandemic entirely because of the dedication of the board and the volunteers they recruited for the mission.

So if you frequent ReCONN, you’ve already met these unsung community service heroes. We should all know their names.

If you see them today, thank them for their service.

Consider volunteering regularly… I will definitely make you a badge!

We are in a “spread the word” phase.

So many people walk in our doors, so excited to have found us. They say the same thing, “we had no idea you were here”.

We can try to fix that.

Pretty please, promote the last construction material reuse nonprofit in our area!

Share/invite your friends to follow The ReCONNstruction Center if they appreciate…

Our Sheetrock stash is evolving.

With the assistance of CLARK KENT our moody and selective but powerful forklift, two dedicated board members and I spent quite a few hours inspecting the boards and sorting them… pretty much one by one.

We have some great little piles emerging.

The lion’s share of the newly inspected, good condition and sorted sheetrock is 5/8” 4’x8’ sheets, $9/sheet

We have a decent pile of 1/2” 4’x8’ sheets, $7.50/sheet.

We have found NO 3/8” sheets yet.

We have a bargain stack that we’d love to get rid of. It’s a mix of 5/8” purple and 1/2” + 5/8” white.

The bargain pile of Sheetrock are ALL $5 each due to cracks or damaged edges.
