Besides cheating on their emission tests in 2016, VW also dropped another year for the Golf GTI. It had almost the same engine as the big brother Golf R, except for a few changes and a smaller turbo. It’s also FWD instead of AWD.

Being one of the starters of the hot-hatch segment, it continues to show why. With 220hp, 6-speed manual or dual clutch options, and plenty of space. However, most of its compliments are on handling and braking.

Aftermarket support is plentiful for the Golf GTI. With possibilities ranging from a baby Golf R all the way to surpassing it and competing with cars out of its class.
