This is a Troybilt made by MTD. (Newer craftsman models are the same) They’re very popular and one of the more economical options to purchase upfront. However, when it comes to wear items and preventative maintenance, it can be quite pricey to maintain these inexpensive models Three examples; 1) Steering gears replace due to wearing out and no longer turning. Average Repair with parts $240. Other brands like Husqvarna and John Deere $0 as they rarely wear out. 2) Front plastic wheel bushings average around $90 to replace and need replacing every 2-3 years. Other brands like Husqvarna and Deere use metal bushings or bearings and last twice as long and longer if the routine greasing is done. 3) Transmission belt: Average $250 to replace 2 belts on the variable speed model (popular). Other brands: closer to $100 and only one belt to replace. You get what you pay for folks and I hope this helps when evaluating that new mower purchase.
