Job Summary:
We are in search for a person to facilitate the role of Design Engineer to join Rocky Mountain West Telecom Consulting, LLC. (RMWT) and provide crucial support to our grant opportunities and engineering projects. In this position, you will play a key role in the creation and management of the OSP Designs for Telecommunications Infrastructure Projects. The Design Engineer will assure requirements are being met on time and within specifications. The role requires knowledge of the engineering and construction procedures that are required for the success of each project. Additional requirements of this position include but are not limited to; review of existing infrastructure, review of analytical data and proper implementation of the subject design, materials list, preliminary engineering construction cost estimation, client relations, collaboration with Grant/Marketing Team on data and clients.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma
• Proficiency in reading maps and broad understanding of industry terminology.
• Understanding of construction and telecom design (aerial, UG, FTTX, Copper.)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in underground and aerial construction.
• Authorized to work in the US.
• Ability and willingness to travel within the US. (via air and/or road)
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must pass drug screen & background check.
• Computer and technical literacy
• 5 Yeas of Telecom Industry Experience
• Literacy with mapping systems such as Google Earth and QGIS
• Data Management
• Analytical Thinking
• Attention to Detail
• Organization and Time Management
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborating with clientele to understand the design requirements for building or expanding the network. This will involve assessing current infrastructure, anticipating future needs, and developing a comprehensive plan and design to include objectives, scope, deliverables, timeline, resource requirements, etc.
• Identifying and selecting the most suitable routes for fiber optic cable and infrastructure taking into account distance, terrain, existing infrastructure, and cost effectiveness.
• Creating engineering designs including layout drawings, cable and conduit specifications and proposed construction documentation. Ensuring that the design adheres to industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Collaboration with permitting team to assure permitting and right-of-way acquisition considerations are taken into account.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to meet design goals and deadlines.
• Participate in meetings, presentations, and discussions, actively contributing insights, ideas, and expertise to facilitate effective decision-making and problem-solving processes.
• Implement technology and industry awareness by staying up to date with the latest advancements in outside plant technology and industry trends. Continuously improving skills and knowledge to enhance efficiency and awareness.
• Project managers strive for continuous improvement by learning from past projects and implementing best practices. They seek feedback, evaluate project performance, and identify areas for improvement in project management processes and methodologies.
• On-time project completion is imperative to the grant application processes

Work Location:
Nephi, Utah Office *Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting position is required.
This position typically does not require much travel, as most of the responsibilities can be effectively carried out in an in-office setting. If there is travel it is very minimal.
Working Conditions:
In office environment, cubicle, heating/ac, kitchen amenities.
In the field, must adhere to Contractors Safety Requirements and use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by RMWT. Expected to be a minimum of 90% of time, and variable dependent on workload.
Schedule:
• Full Time
• 8-hour shift (40 hours per week) Monday through Friday
Pay Range:
Salary $50-85k based on knowledge and experience.
Annual bonus based on personal and company performance.
