Job Summary:
We are in search for a person to facilitate the role of Design Engineer to join Rocky Mountain West Telecom Consulting, LLC. (RMWT) and provide crucial support to our grant opportunities and engineering projects. In this position, you will play a key role in the creation and management of the OSP Designs for Telecommunications Infrastructure Projects. The Design Engineer will assure requirements are being met on time and within specifications. The role requires knowledge of the engineering and construction procedures that are required for the success of each project. Additional requirements of this position include but are not limited to; review of existing infrastructure, review of analytical data and proper implementation of the subject design, materials list, preliminary engineering construction cost estimation, client relations, collaboration with Grant/Marketing Team on data and clients.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma
• Proficiency in reading maps and broad understanding of industry terminology.
• Understanding of construction and telecom design (aerial, UG, FTTX, Copper.)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in underground and aerial construction.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborating with clientele to understand the design requirements for building or expanding the network. This will involve assessing current infrastructure, anticipating future needs, and developing a comprehensive plan and design to include objectives, scope, deliverables, timeline, resource requirements, etc.
• Identifying and selecting the most suitable routes for fiber optic cable and infrastructure taking into account distance, terrain, existing infrastructure, and cost effectiveness.
• Creating engineering designs including layout drawings, cable and conduit specifications and proposed construction documentation. Ensuring that the design adheres to industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Collaboration with permitting team to assure permitting and right-of-way acquisition considerations are taken into account.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to meet design goals and deadlines.
• Participate in meetings, presentations, and discussions, actively contributing insights, ideas, and expertise to facilitate effective decision-making and problem-solving processes.

Provide any information to client PM related to construction that deviates and or changes from the approved permitted construction plans or that is contrary to direction given by the client PM.
• Records - provide “field-compiled mark-ups.” These mark-ups are not “Office Prepared Clean Redlines.” These mark-ups are compiled for the Inspection Company’s records and will not be considered true “Redlines” and will be provided to the client Project Manager. The mark-ups will be accurate and will contain information not needed by an engineering firm to complete “As-builds.” “Office Prepared Clean Redlines” would have miscellaneous notes and information removed, as well as be prepared in actual red ink, and drawn and notated in a consistent manner, with a scaled-adjusted running line. “Mark-ups” may or may not be in red ink and are prepared in the field during regular construction time. “Office Prepared Clean Redlines” will require additional hours to be completed and are not included in standard rates quoted.

RMWT is looking for a few individuals to join our 3GIS OSP Fiber Design team.

Must possess strong critical thinking skills, pay attention to detail, are self-starters, have the ability to work independently and with moderate supervision, have the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and can work as a part of the team.

Location: In office/remote.

Wage: Unit base position.

General Duties /Key Responsibilities:
• Provides support to engineering personnel by utilizing GIS software to create outside plant engineering project deliverables
• Ability to read as-builts, construction drawings, and utility records.
• Examine project documentation and update outside plant records in GIS.
• Experience with 3gis or other design system to create fiber designs including feeder and distribution.
• Design fiber to the home, backhaul/transport fiber routes, MDU, distribution/feeder design using provided 3gis design software.
• Perform Fiber splicing on the fiber optic network via design software to ensure connectivity across fibers for the fiber splicing teams in the field.
• Any/All duties related to fiber-optic network designs that may be required for projects.

Required Experience:
• 1 or more years of experience with Fiber Design Software:
• 3GIS, QGIS, ArcMap, ArcPro, ARCGIS, or other GIS based systems (Preference will be placed on direct 3GIS experience).
• 1 or more years of AutoCAD experience in Telecom.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and routine office equipment.
