It was great having our neighbors from the Neenah Police Department stop by—always good to connect with the team members who help keep our community safe! We have a strong appreciation for the work law enforcement does in this wonderful city!

Happy Tuesday, Neenah! We hope you have been enjoying these warm temperatures as much as we are! 🔆 Today, we were able to have our staff meeting at P&D Metal Works, Inc, a custom metal fabrication company in Neenah who specializes in metal work for the residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal markets, making a vast array of metal projects. You may not know it, but you’ve probably seen their work sprinkled throughout the city and surrounding communities. They have a subsidiary company known as Rigguard which specializes in producing grille guards for semis and other commercial vehicles. They’ve also been making unique fire rings for over 20 years and that part of their business is called Fox River Fire Rings. It was an interesting tour seeing all the neat things they make, which is just another reason why we love Neenah so much!

During our staff meetings, we discuss what is working at the police department, what we can do better, and what each division is working on. We strive to keep each other informed, so we can better serve our amazing citizens. Chief Olson will continue holding these meetings out in the community, both at businesses and parks. If you see us out and about, stop and say hello.

We shared some photos of this project earlier, but here's a little before and after. We obtained measurements, designed, fabricated, and installed the steel stair stringers first. Once installed, the builder added wood treads and we then came back for final measurements so we could complete the design of the railing system, create shop drawings, and fabricate. It was finished off with a matte black powder coat finish from Statewide Powder Coating

A traditional design we offer is our Springbrook Railing seen here. It's a relatively simple design consisting of rectangular tube top rail and rectangular tube bottom rail with solid bar square balusters, but it's modest appearance can be stunning nonetheless. These images show a 6 FT railing section in a few different installation scenarios.

What a view! People from outside Wisconsin may not know sights like this exist in our fine state, but there's beauty all around. To ensure this vista isn't spoiled we built a custom cable railing to ensure clean lines and unobstructed views.

This railing is a showstopper in this immaculate home. It follows the design of our Highland railing with round bar substituted in place of flat bar for the horizontal balusters. We often build our railings as fully continuous pieces from the top level of a home down to the lower level. This gives the finished product a premium appearance and it becomes obvious that you can't achieve the same look with purchased components assembled on-site.

There are a lot of considerations when designing a railing such as this, and if you don't take into account the potential issues that will be presented along the way it can go sideways in a hurry leading to rework, extended timelines, and added costs. Without an experienced designer and fabricator, those challenges may not get noticed until you're looking to gain occupancy via a final inspection, and that's a situation no one wants to be in.

We've been making cattail railings for over 20 years now with many shipping to different locations throughout the US. This particular railing was delivered and installed to a wonderful client near Madison, WI. The finish carpenter will be adding a wooden top rail to finish the railing off. This is another railing design that can be challenging to fabricate in a way that still ensures code-compliance. The layout of the design can become a bit limited based on the concerns with code, but we always strive to make the final product as natural and organic as possible.

This railing provided a touch of elegance to this home. An iteration of the balusters included in this design are mass produced and can be purchased, but your final layout is then limited by the dimensions of those purchased pieces. The railing in this home has a mid-rail with a space between it and the top rail above. Pre-purchased balusters wouldn't work for the railing as fabricated without cutting and modifying the balusters. Because of this, we often elect to either fabricate or laser cut our own balusters specific to the custom railing we build.

As simple as this design is, the other challenge becomes code-compliance in regards to the sphere rule. The railing may be code-compliant between the rectangular part of the balusters, but the single extension at the top and bottom may be too far apart when considering the opening in the center. To offset this, we can alter the design by either placing each baluster closer to one another, we can shorten the single extension at the top, or we can do a combination of both. That's one of the benefits of a fully custom railing in comparison to pre-purchased parts. The design can be modified and tweaked in such a way that it most closely resembles the homeowner's vision while still meeting any local building codes. You can't always achieve that with purchased components.

We've fabricated quite a few commercial and industrial staircases over the years. This particular unit has in-house custom laser cut/formed treads with closed risers instead of bar grating or grip strut options. This stairway is a bit narrower than a typical unit we'd build for this application, but it still maintained the necessary code compliance while being contained within the required footprint at the install location.

This is a wonderful interior stair and guardrail project that was first introduced to us in January of 2024 with final installation completed in February of 2025 . It's not uncommon for a lot of pre-planning to go into these projects/designs as there is usually an abundance of questions that a homeowner and/or builder has. The answers to those questions have a strong impact on final price. Other than the obvious cost differences in overall design, the largest influence on price is the totality of our scope of work on a project. Are we responsible for the design and shop drawings for the project or are those supplied to us by others? Are we obtaining on-site measurements for fabrication or are we building off of a print supplied by others? Will we be installing the finished pieces or does the end user have the capability to do so on their own? The greater the scope of work we're responsible for the higher the cost, and similarly, the lower our scope of work the lower the cost. In the end, collaboration and communication are key throughout the process to ensure the final result meets expectations. We crafted a welcoming sign for the entrance of Immanuel Lutheran Ministries in Greenville. They wanted standoffs mounted directly on the wall, and we were thrilled to bring their vision to life. Although attaching all those individual letters was quite the task, the final result was truly impressive!
