Since training as a Rise&Walk Champion at Summa Rehab Hospital in March 2025, PRN physical therapist Katlyn Bush, PT, DPT has used the device with inpatients and outpatients alike, and has been trusted to travel across the Ernest Health system training other therapists to do the same.

What's kept her coming back isn't one moment, but a pattern she's seen repeat for the past year and a half.

"One of my favorite parts is how much the patients love it, and how much confidence and excitement they feel from using it," Bush says. "It's been pretty incredible to see the differences in walking from just one session when we perform pre- and post-tests."

It's changed how she treats, too. "As therapists, we sometimes limit our patients by our own physical restraints," she explains. "This device has let me challenge patients beyond what I thought was possible, while keeping them safe and minimizing my physical exertion."

When it comes to standing mode, that's where she likes to get creative. "You can transition right from walking mode to standing mode, and challenge patients with tasks specific to their interests, from VR to pickleball, tall kneeling to dancing," she says. "There's something for everyone!"

Her advice for clinicians still on the fence: "Once you're familiar and comfortable with the device, it opens up a whole new set of options. I love challenging my patients so they feel good about themselves and their progress toward their goals."

A strong clinical case for robotic gait training doesn't always stall during budget approval because the evidence is weak. More often, it stalls on questions about fit, cost, and workflow a hospital's Value Analysis Committee (VAC) is built to ask.

Our latest blog walks rehab directors through what it actually takes to get Rise&Walk® through a VAC: what the committee is really evaluating, how to prepare for the objections before they're raised, and what waiting on a strong request can quietly cost a facility.

Swipe through for a preview. Then visit our site to enter your email for the full breakdown with the complete objection-and-answer guide, real setup and staffing numbers, and a step-by-step guide to building your packet.

We are proud to welcome Rehabilitation Hospital of Oak Creek to the Rise&Walk network!

This brand-new, 40-bed Lifepoint inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Oak Creek, Wisconsin has completed clinical training and fully launched the Rise&Walk InClinic, the world's first 3-in-1 robotic rehabilitation station. Their clinical team now has one system for robotic-assisted gait training, seated reciprocal stepping, and standing balance support, supporting patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and complex orthopedic conditions across southeastern Wisconsin.

This launch reflects our continued growth among Lifepoint hospitals nationwide as we work together to bring advanced rehabilitation technology to more clinical teams across the country.

We can't wait to see the impact this team will have across the region.

Twenty-five years as a physical therapist has taught Dr. Jason Sablan, PT, DPT to approach new technology with a healthy dose of skepticism. So when the Rise&Walk arrived at Central California Rehabilitation Hospital less than six months ago, that's exactly how he approached it too.

Then came a patient who changed his mind.

"The technology did not just deliver in improving the patient's overall function," Dr. Sablan says. "It also affected her view regarding physical therapy in general!"

Walking mode remains his favorite way to use the device. "Walking is the most functional activity I could ever have my patient do," he explains. "The technology helps me focus on specific treatment techniques rather than putting all my effort into making sure my patient doesn't fall on me."

His advice for clinicians still on the fence: "Give it a try and see for yourself. As a PT for more than 25 years, I've felt the same way [skeptical] before I used the Rise&Walk. I'm glad I kept an open mind about the technology."

Robotic gait training is no longer just a research-lab tool, it's showing up in rehab clinics everywhere. But does it actually work, and what should a facility look for before investing in a robotic system?

We put together a PT's guide covering the evidence for robotic-assisted gait training (RAGT), the 3 main categories of systems, and a checklist for evaluating them.

Your therapists are doing their best, but manual gait training has limitations, and the evidence-based standard is 4–80x higher than what a clinician can deliver by hand.

Up to 91% of physical therapists suffer a work-related musculoskeletal injury, many from manual therapy techniques.

Rise&Walk® InClinic closes the gap - High-intensity, safe for one clinician, and built for the IRF workflow.

See how the Rise&Walk InClinic solves the challenge.
