Last week, we celebrated 25 years of CSDG at 5 City Blvd in Nashville, located within , a district we’ve helped shape from the ground up over the past decade. Gathering there, as part of one of our most transformative long-term projects, made the evening especially meaningful.

The celebration brought together the team, clients, and partners who have been part of our journey over the past 25 years. We’re grateful for the trust that has allowed us to contribute to the Nashville skyline and surrounding communities, while continuing to grow our presence in Chattanooga and Clarksville.

We’re proud of the work and even more proud of the relationships behind it. At our core, we design people-centered spaces where real life happens, designing experiences and shaping places that serve our communities for years to come.

Ascend Amphitheater & West Riverfront Park | Nashville, TN

A defining project of ours over the past 25 years, West Riverfront Park and Ascend Amphitheater have reshaped how people experience Nashville’s downtown riverfront.

Transformed from a former thermal plant site, the 11-acre park and entertainment venue features a 6,000+ seat amphitheater, multi-use greenway trails, event lawns, ornamental gardens, active and passive recreation areas, redevelopment along 1st Avenue, and Nashville’s first downtown dog park.

We provided early planning and full site design and civil engineering services, helping shape an award-winning, LEED Gold-certified destination that reflects our mission to design people-centered spaces where real life happens.

LC Germantown | Nashville, TN

Set within one of Nashville’s most sought-after neighborhoods, brings 411 multifamily residences together through walkable streets, shared open spaces, and direct access to the city’s riverfront and cultural landmarks. Located along the Cumberland River Greenway and just steps from the Nashville Farmers Market and Bicentennial Mall Park, the community is seamlessly connected to the surrounding urban fabric.

We provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services, supporting a site that balances density with livability through generous outdoor amenities, including communal spaces for residents and pets, elevated terraces with outdoor kitchens, skyline views, a pool, a centrally located fitness facility, and ground-floor dining at .

Projects like this reflect our long-standing experience shaping multifamily environments that are functional, connected, and built to thrive within their existing neighborhoods.

Over the past two weeks, we welcomed five seniors to our Chattanooga office for a hands-on externship focused on Watkins Street Park and the Ridgedale neighborhood. Through site visits, community conversations, sketching, mapping, and problem-solving, students gained a real-world look at how public spaces are planned, designed, and brought to life.

Their curiosity and willingness to engage with the neighborhood’s challenges and opportunities made this experience especially meaningful for our team. It is a reminder of how early exposure to landscape architecture and community-centered design can shape future career paths and excite students.

Behind the Design: James Lawson High School

As students settle back into the semester, we’re taking a look behind the design of James Lawson High School, a 9–12 campus for Metro Nashville Public Schools set on a 274-acre hillside overlooking the Harpeth River.

We conducted a preliminary site analysis and due diligence during property selection and subsequently delivered complete civil engineering design services for the campus. The project includes a 310,000 SF academic building serving 1,600 students and a comprehensive athletics program featuring football, baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, and TSSAA-qualified tennis courts.

Our team led site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, a sanitary sewer pump station, earthwork quantity calculations, and permitting with TDEC and USACOE for stream encapsulation. The site’s steep topography required careful planning to create the large, flat surfaces needed for buildings, fields, and parking while preserving the natural landscape and capitalizing on the site’s views.

The result is a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold–certified campus delivered partnership with , designed to inspire learning for years to come.
