For June's , we are thrilled to highlight Angie Couser and the joy she brings to Cooper Steel as the Payroll and Benefits Manager. Thank you for all that you do, Angie!

"As a Benefits and Payroll Manager, I communicate with third-party administrators on behalf of our HR team for insurance, retirement, and payroll needs, making sure all processes run as smoothly as possible. Some of my responsibilities include working to process or resolve insurance claims, billing, coverages, enrollments, pharmacy questions, 401k contributions and distributions, state and local tax accounts, COBRA assistance, HSA accounts, and more. I also work with our third-party administrators to ensure all compliance items for payroll, insurance, and retirement plans are filed in a timely manner.

I began working at Cooper Steel almost 9 years ago. During that time, I’ve seen so much growth with new locations, employees, and in my own team. What I enjoy most about my job is still being involved with our employees and helping them maneuver through all things benefit-related. It makes me happy to see our employees, from those just beginning their careers to those who are finishing their careers, being taken care of in every aspect and chapter of their lives.

With our rapid growth and new plant openings over the past few years, our core values have never wavered. Cooper Steel genuinely values their employees, making it an exceptional place to grow both personally and professionally. I look forward to continuing to build meaningful relationships with all new members joining our team in the future."

"I am an On-Site Safety Manager with the Self-Perform Group and I have been at Cooper Steel for nearly two years. My day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing the safety of our crews on-site while coordinating closely with project managers and general contractors to ensure safe and efficient operations.

I started my career at Cooper Steel as an intern within the On-Site Project Management Department. That experience has had a significant impact on my career and helped shape the way I approach safety within our organization today.

One of our core values is “Go All Out,” and that mindset is reflected in the work we do every day. In my role, building strong relationships with our crews and project teams is essential. If I can help improve a process, support our employees, or make the job site safer in any way, then I know I have done my job well.

Here, you are part of a family-oriented culture, and being a member of the Self-Perform Team is something I take great pride in. Representing the Cooper family on-site and being able to say we fabricated and erected a structure is incredibly rewarding. When a project is complete, there is a strong sense of accomplishment knowing the building will stand for many years and that you played a part in its success.

Looking ahead, I am excited to continue promoting the Self-Perform Team while growing in my current role and contributing to the continued success of Cooper Steel."

Cooper Steel was honored to receive the inaugural Fabricator Safety Excellence Award at the SEAA Conference this past week. We remain committed to advancing our fabrication processes and procedures with safety at the forefront of everything we do.

Recipients of the inaugural Fabricator Safety Excellence Awards were recognized during the 2026 Convention & Trade Show in Kansas City!

New this year, the Fabricator Safety Excellence category was introduced to recognize companies advancing safety through internal processes, workforce training, and continuous improvement across fabrication operations. The program follows the same evaluation framework as our erector safety awards, reinforcing consistent expectations for safety performance across the steel construction industry.
