Stone, August 22, 1906. The Stone family continued the business after Frank’s passing in 1933, when his son Bert Stone took over the business with his wife Marie. In July of 1948 the Schlerf family moved to Nampa, where Don Schlerf went to work for the Stone Lumber Company. In 1969 Don and his wife Zola purchased the business from the Stone family and continued to build the business with the commu
nity. Don Schlerf was forced to retire in 1980 due to ill health and sold Stone Lumber to his younger son, Monte Schlerf and son-in-law, Roger Kotter, who were actively managing the business at the time. Roger and Monte held that courteous, professional customer service is the key to a successful business. Their objective has been to provide the quality products customers need at competitive prices. At the same time, Stone Lumber has been a good neighbor, supporter of the community, area schools, and select nonprofit charities. July 18, 1994 brought a devastating fire that destroyed the offices, store and lumber yard. With the help of their employees, Stone Lumber opened for business the next day using borrowed office space. The original site was sold and present facility built at 412 2nd Street South opening in May, 1995. Roger Kotter passed away unexpectedly January 9, 2012. His presence is missed. However, the same philosophy of courteous, professional customer service is still key to our success. Stone Lumber continues to provide quality building materials to the Treasure Valley backed with the excellent service their customers have come to expect. In 2020, Sunpro, a subsidiary of Clyde Companies, purchased Stone Lumber to join their family of construction materials and services. Today, it is known as Sunpro Nampa and continues to serve the local area, fulfilling Clyde Companies mission to Build a Better Community.
