FIRE SAFETY REMINDER: SAFE BATTERY CHARGING
Lithium-ion batteries are part of our everyday lives, powering phones, tablets, tools, e-bikes, scooters, and many other devices. Safe charging habits can help reduce the risk of battery fires.
Remember:
Use the charger and cord provided by the manufacturer or an approved replacement.
Charge devices on a hard, flat surface—not on beds, couches, or pillows.
Stop using a battery if it becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, smells strange, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.
Unplug devices when they are fully charged.
Charge larger battery-powered devices, such as e-bikes, scooters, and power tools, outside when possible, and never block exits while charging.
Take a moment to review the attached NFPA safety tips and make safe charging a part of your everyday fire prevention routine.
Stay safe and charge smart!
