Each year, Muskegon Luge parks cars during the Michigan Irish Music Festival. The proceeds from this fundraiser have helped us purchase an Action Trackchair, giving people with disabilities the opportunity to explore trails that traditional wheelchairs cannot navigate.
Parking cars has also helped support Hike the Lights—more than three miles of illuminated hiking trails that are completely free for our community and visitors to Muskegon State Park. Hundreds of lights create a one-of-a-kind winter experience, but the electrical cost is significant. This fundraiser helps us keep the trails glowing and accessible without charging admission.
Volunteer shifts are available Friday evening, throughout Saturday, and for most of Sunday. Whether you can help for one shift or several, your time will directly support outdoor experiences for people with disabilities, local families, and visitors from across West Michigan.
When you volunteer, you’re doing more than directing cars. You’re helping someone explore a trail they may not otherwise be able to access. You’re helping a family enjoy a free winter adventure together. You’re helping ensure that the outdoors truly can be for everyone.
