⚠The State and County are partnering to address the spread of Myrtle Spurge in the area. The plant is an invasive species that pushes out native plants which pollinators rely on.⚠
The weeds have spread from home gardens into the hillsides and canyons along the Wasatch Front.
In efforts to mitigate this issue, contractors will be spraying herbicide treatment in various locations. The spray leaves a blue residue that residents recreating in these areas should avoid.
Please keep dogs on a leash and stay on trails.
Impacted areas:
🌿Emigration Canyon & SR 65
🌿Parley's Pointe and H Rock
🌿Grandeur Peak & Crestwood Dr. Open Space
🌿Parley's Canyon
🌿Millcreek Canyon
🌿Mt. Olympus Trailhead
🌿Old Mill Golf Course
🌿Big Cottonwood Canyon (above treatment plant and other areas at the mouth of the canyon)
🌿Right of way and hillsides east of Wasatch Blvd from I-80 to Big Cottonwood Canyon
⚠Please do not touch or allow any children or pets to come into contact with the plants once they have been treated and until the herbicide has dried. Typically, within 4 hours of application.⚠
