to the 2nd Annual Little 500 in 1950! 🏁

Tom Cherry of Muncie crossed the finish line to score his first Little 500 victory. The local favorite set a standard of excellence that stood for decades.

In Cherry’s first six Little 500 starts, he never finished worse than 3rd. 👀

To this day, Cherry still ranks 3rd on the all-time wins list with four victories and has led the second-most laps in race history (1,957), trailing only Eric Gordon.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 15, 2026- City of Muncie Announces Partnership with Muncie Mission to Expand Community Health Services

The City of Muncie is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Muncie Mission aimed at expanding access to healthcare services for residents in need.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the City will provide the use of the facility located at 809 W. 8th Street for the expansion of the Muncie Mission's no-cost community health clinic.
This clinic will serve individuals who currently face barriers to accessing adequate healthcare, as it has at their current location since 2022, further strengthening the community’s support network.

The agreement also outlines a long-term transition plan, allowing the Muncie Mission to assume ownership of the facility in 2027, ensuring the clinic’s sustainability for years to come. The Muncie Mission will be responsible for equipping and staffing the clinic and delivering services to the community.

The City also extends its sincere appreciation to Meridian Health Services for its continued commitment to the Muncie community. Since beginning operations of the crisis center, Meridian has covered 416 visits, providing critical support and care to those in need. Their partnership and dedication have made a meaningful impact and continue to strengthen the local network of services.

Additionally, the Muncie Mission will transfer ownership of another property to the City for future community benefit, further demonstrating a shared commitment to serving Muncie residents.

“This partnership is a win for the entire Muncie community,” said Mayor Dan Ridenour. “By working together with the Muncie Mission, we are expanding access to critical healthcare services for those who need it most while making thoughtful use of City resources. This is exactly the kind of collaboration that helps move Muncie forward.”
