“The D11s are a great fit for the 42 EXHTB. They offer reduced weight, stronger torque curve, and maneuverability,” says JD Messler, Volvo Penta Marine Sales, Johnson & Towers, an Indel Power Group company. “The Volvo Penta engines offer a list of benefits to the owner, including lower emissions, quieter operation, better fuel efficiency, and longer service intervals.”

With an in-line six-cylinder, 10.8-liter, common-rail fuel injection, overhead camshaft, and twin-entry turbo using a water-cooled exhaust manifold, the D11s are an excellent engine for sportfishing applications. The D11s occupy a smaller footprint in the engine room, with no extra equipment needed, allowing easy access for servicing and cleaning.

MTU Monday - Just three days before the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, Captain Seth Laws’ 2020 Scarborough sportfishing boat, T-Zero, broke down. With the boat already chartered for the tournament, Laws needed a timely and complete resolution.

“We came up to Morehead City, North Carolina, from Florida on Tuesday after finishing a tournament in the Bahamas,” said Laws. “We were set to pre-fish on Wednesday when I noticed coolant leaking from the exhaust. I called Western Branch Diesel and they said they’d have someone out in 30 minutes.”

“A repair job like this will normally take two guys three to four days,” said Laws. “I called Daren; he had the part on-hand and brought it down. They started at 6 a.m. on Thursday and stayed until it was done around 8 p.m. that night.”

Ultimately, Laws was able to complete the charter, providing a great experience for his guests because of the invaluable support from Western Branch Diesel. “In all my years, I’ve never seen service like that, it was just awesome. No question,” said Laws.
