Aquaponics can be more than a method of food production. It can also support education, sustainability, community resilience, and greater control over local food systems.

AED was honored to participate in the College of Menominee Nation’s Sustaining the Circle Workshop this summer. Huy Tran led a “Why Aquaponics?” presentation and hands-on aquaponics activities, helping participants explore how fish and plants can be raised together within a recirculating system.

The College of Menominee Nation describes food sovereignty as sustaining traditional Menominee ways, values, relationships, and community food systems for future generations. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute technical knowledge to a workshop grounded in such meaningful work.
