Shop update! We recently sent out the first mill since the fire… #256 to Woondinville, WA. We’re not back up at full production yet but it feels good to be gaining momentum towards catching up after three months of waiting and re-building. Major thanks to everyone for their patience and support!

Shop update!

Each day we’re getting closer. The temporary shop is now set up and stones have arrived. (That feels really good!) We are still waiting on electric work to run our big equipment, but any day now we’ll be back to building mills... even if it’s in a limited capacity for now. So many thanks for all of the continued support and understanding. -Andrew, Blair & the NASM crew

This weekend feels pretty special. I’m visiting in Dateland, Arizona to dress their 48” mill and do some test milling and flour evaluation.
Three months after the fire in our shop, it feels so good to be back—working with farmers, millers, and bakers, and supporting the vital work they do for their local grain economies and food systems.

It’s been six weeks since the fire and we finally have some good news to share! We’ve found a space to rent for the next six months while our shop is being restored. In this space we will be able to start cleaning and repairing our tools so we can get back to building mills.

This is entirely possible because of the generosity of the GoFundMe and the incredible support of our community near and far.

Locals! The task of cleaning our tools is daunting and extensive, so we are organizing a work weekend January 3rd & 4th at our new space. If you’re around and want to lend our small crew a hand, please reach out via DM for details.

We still have a long way to go, but it’s a start!

We wish we had an exciting update to share this week, but we are still waiting on insurance and answers to so many questions. We are diligently searching for a temporary space to be able to clean and repair our equipment and resume building mills until we are able to move back into our shop.
Many thanks to our community both near and far for the overwhelming support and please know that we are working as hard as we can to resume full operations as soon as we can.
As we said before, please keep growing grain, milling and baking for your community and hopefully we will have more to share soon.

Week 2 Update:
While the insurance adjusters are completing their assessments Mike, Luke and Christian are hard at work cataloguing the shops inventory as we plan the next steps towards rebuilding and getting back to work.

Again, our thanks for the outpouring of love and support. It’s what is keeping us going…

We are completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of kind words and support received since the fire. We have the most incredible community and it means so much during this crazy time.

Our dear friends from have started a GoFundMe in our name to help support our incredible crew as we work through all of the unknowns associated with insurance and rebuilding. You can find the link in our stories and bio.

We cannot give enough thanks to all of the farmers, millers, bakers, bread eaters and community members near and far for their understanding and support while we sort through the aftermath of the fire and begin the process of rebuilding.

Hopefully we will have some updates to share very soon, but until then you have our utmost thanks and gratitude.

This past Thursday morning a fire broke out at our shop in Morrisville. It occurred in the early hours, no one was in the building and we are beyond grateful that no one was hurt. The fire was significant, the damage is extensive and so many things are unknown at this time.

The day before the fire was the 10 year anniversary of officially starting New American Stone Mills with . Sadly, we were anticipating a more joyous week.

As we learn more in the coming days, we will keep you posted, but in the meantime, please keep milling and baking for your community and we will be back to building mills as soon as possible.
