Shop update: This has been a biiiiig week for us. It’s been nine months since the fire, and we were finally given the green light to move back into our shop.

It is a daunting and chaotic process, but we are working as hard and fast as we can to get set up and building mills at full capacity as quickly as possible.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we would not be back here without the overwhelming support of our community, both near and far and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped us reach this point. It feels so good to be home.

Fires are wild and you don’t quite understand them until you’ve experienced one. The overarching impact,
the ripple effect, the overwhelming stress of the unknowns, the lingering smells, the massive amount of time it takes to recover…

Our dear and longtime friends had a major fire at their bakery two days ago and we hope that our amazing community can circle around them and help facilitate a speedy recovery.

Shop update! We recently sent out the first mill since the fire… #256 to Woondinville, WA. We’re not back up at full production yet but it feels good to be gaining momentum towards catching up after three months of waiting and re-building. Major thanks to everyone for their patience and support!

Shop update!

Each day we’re getting closer. The temporary shop is now set up and stones have arrived. (That feels really good!) We are still waiting on electric work to run our big equipment, but any day now we’ll be back to building mills... even if it’s in a limited capacity for now. This weekend feels pretty special. I’m visiting in Dateland, Arizona to dress their 48” mill and do some test milling and flour evaluation.
Three months after the fire in our shop, it feels so good to be back—working with farmers, millers, and bakers, and supporting the vital work they do for their local grain economies and food systems.
