Reillyslife Our show, Reilly’s life will be an animated series aimed at children that have Autism. It will empower them and their Families.

Reilly's life will provide a forum that demonstrates to autistic children, their families, caregivers, practitioners and general audiences that they are not alone in this world and society values and appreciates their experience as autistic individuals. Each episode will be 10 minutes of 2D animation followed by a live action bumper that shows children or adults experiencing the unique strengths a

nd challenges of autism in the context of the episode. The show highlights the breadth and depth of autistic life while dealing with some of the common challenges and barriers autistic children face.

Just wanted to share this link as a genuinely valuable resource.

This is from the Autistic Self Advocacy Network ASAN, an organization run by and for autistic people. That matters.

There’s a strong collection of books and materials written by people on the spectrum, which can be incredibly helpful for kids and teens who are newly diagnosed, and for families trying to better understand how to support them.

Their core message is simple but important: “Nothing about us without us.”
That means autistic voices should be part of every conversation about autism, not spoken for, but listened to and centered.

If you’re navigating a recent diagnosis, or just looking to understand things better, this is a solid place to start.

It’s been a long time since Reilly has been active, but things are changing and evolving. We will have an exciting announcement in the coming weeks. The wheels have been stuck for too long so Reilly’s life is evolving!

April is Autism Acceptance Month. The recognition raises awareness about autism acceptance and promotes inclusion and connectedness for people with autism.

From ASAN (Autistic Self Advocacy Network) : There is no one way to be autistic. Some autistic people can speak, and some autistic people need to communicate in other ways. Some autistic people also have intellectual disabilities, and some autistic people don’t. Some autistic people need a lot of help in their day-to-day lives, and some autistic people only need a little help. All of these people are autistic, because there is no right or wrong way to be autistic. All of us experience autism differently, but we all contribute to the world in meaningful ways. We all deserve understanding and acceptance.

This is the 10th anniversary of April being dedicated to Autism acceptance.

From ASAN
"Autism Acceptance Month was created by and for the autistic community to change the conversation around autism, shifting it away from stigmatizing “autism awareness” language that presents autism as a threat to be countered with vigilance. Ten years ago, when Autism Acceptance Month started, advocacy organizations run by non-autistic people spoke openly about working towards a future in which “autism is a word for the history books.” In contrast, autism acceptance emphasizes that autistic people belong — that we deserve welcoming communities, inclusive schools and workplaces, and equal opportunities. In the last ten years, we have seen real progress. Many autism organizations run by non-autistic people initially resisted “acceptance” language; over time, some of them have come to adopt it. We welcome this change."

Reillys life is still in the works. It's been a long process with lots of starts and stops, but each hurdle we hit gives us more creative input and more value to the project. We will see the light of day!

Progress!

‘What exactly does that mean? For starters, at least 80 percent of the park staff will receive specialized training (in areas such as communication, motor skills and sensory and emotional awareness) in order to meet the needs of all children, especially those with special needs. Sensory guides will be available to help parents plan activities based on their child’s specific needs, and the park will have quiet rooms and low-sensory areas for times when kids may need to take a break.’

4 years ago today we were getting ready to start fundraising for Reillys life.
We made our goal on Kickstarter. With those funds, we established our company, paid our writer, animator, consultants and other involved parties. Since then we have been working with other parties to bring this story to life. Work and life has slowed down the process but we are still in the game.
I am eternally grateful to everyone who donated to our project and continue to ask about the shows progression. I am hopeful that we can 'kickstart' the momentum again in the coming weeks and months and bring this show to life!
I will keep you posted!!!

We are still working towards this vision

Someday, TV will give us autistic characters who aren't all awkward savants. In the meantime, we'll keep claiming characters for our own.
