Buckhorn Engineering opened its doors in Montrose as Buckhorn Geotech in 1978, as primarily as geotechnical engineering firm. Since then, Buckhorn Engineering has become a multi-discipline engineering firm that has provided a wide spectrum of engineering, surveying, geotechnical, and materials testing services for over 40 years. From 2015 to 2021, DOWL operated the Montrose office as part of their
western United States operations. The Montrose office was purchased from DOWL by long-time employee Dan Quigley in May 2021 and renamed Buckhorn Engineering, Inc. All employees remained with the new firm. The staff at Buckhorn Engineering are committed to providing quality engineering services. The cost effectiveness of Buckhorn Engineering has been achieved through individual attention to clients’ needs as well as efficiency, project control, and effective internal and client communication. Buckhorn Engineering has an excellent working relationship with numerous municipalities, counties, state, and federal agencies throughout the Western Slope of Colorado., including the City of Montrose.
