Bassett Engineering Our mission is to provide cost-effective and unique solutions to our client's problems. Britt Bassett, PE, BCEE, founded Bassett Engineering in 1996.

We are a state-of-the-art municipal and environmental engineering firm. We specialize in municipal engineering services including the study and design of water treatment, storage and distribution systems, wastewater collection and treatment systems, roadway reconstruction & resurfacing, NBIS bridge inspections, streetscape enhancements, bridge & culvert replacements, engineering & traffic studies,

and land development and subdivision reviews. Bassett Engineering is located just East of Williamsport, in the heart of the Marcellus Shale region. We offer full services including funding assistance and environmental permitting. Our customers are Townships, Boroughs, Municipal Authorities, Businesses and Individuals throughout Northcentral Pennsylvania. We provide guidance, support, and expertise in a wide variety of engineering issues that confront our clients. We are currently serving as Lycoming County Co-Engineer for the 2010-2015 period, as well as back-up Engineer for the Lycoming County Planning Commission. We provide full services from a project’s inception through its conclusion. Some tasks may involve a simple subdivision review or a study, while others may run the full gamut from study to design, permitting, bidding, construction including inspection, start-up and testing, as well as ongoing operational assistance. Bassett is wrapping up on Bordell Rd. Bridge project in Keating Township this week. The bridge over Cole Creek has been replaced with a new Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil-Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) and is now fully operational. This bridge was built using 48” x 24” Concrete Adjacent Box Beams. GRS-IBS style bridges are more economical to build and more efficient to construct. A big advantage of this style bridge is that it provides for the smooth transition from the roadway approaches onto the bridge because there is less settlement at the abutments due to the construction techniques used on a GRS bridge.

On this day in 1996, Britt Bassett officially started Bassett Engineering Inc. as a team of one. Since then we've grown exponentially. Bassett is proud to have been part of the Streetscape Enhancement Project, which will enhance pedestrian safety. Sidewalks are being reconstructed with decorated pavers, new curb and ADA- compliant curb ramps. Roadway is being narrowed. Angled parking is being standardized. Bump outs will reduce pedestrian travel distance at intersections. Decorative string lights is being added.

Bassett Engineering located utilities and engineered relocations as needed. We worked with Trinity Subsurface to conduct Subsurface Utility Excavation in compliance with Act 287 and identify potential conflicts between utilities and the planned roadway improvements. We coordinated with the City, PennDOT, PPL, UGI, and other utilities. We designed power supply distribution for decorative lighting. We developed the Erosion Control Plan and obtained approval from Northumberland County Conservation District.

Britt Bassett, PE attended the March 3, 2026 meeting of the Northeast Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Society of Highway Engineers. He spoke with PennDOT District 4 staff about future projects and with fellow engineers about partnering opportunities. We thank King’s College for hosting, and the NEPA ASHE board members for organizing this important event.

PROJECT UPDATE: Bordell Road Bridge

We are happy to share this behind the scenes look at the precision and teamwork driving this project forward. On 11/14/2025, our team set five 48” x 24” Concrete Adjacent Box Beams into place using an Allison crane. Each beam plays a critical role in forming the substructure of the new GRS-type bridge.
