Mechanics are required to perform varied tasks according to the equipment or vehicles needing maintenance. Their duties involve working in awkward positions, including bending and twisting in tight confined areas and reaching while standing on tracks or other machinery. Other influences include temperatures of extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, noise, and vibration. Hazards include working in proximity to moving, mechanical parts.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Repair and maintain heavy equipment
• Troubleshoot various equipment, diagnostics, repair all heavy equipment systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, brake, transmission, computer-controlled, high voltage generator, and pneumatic
• Have complete set of Tools to preform daily tasks.
• Repair and service track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, hard bars, track adjusters, hydraulic pumps and valves, final drives, brake bands, steering clutches, and hydrostatic transmissions
• Fabricate, and install using welders, torch sets.
• Perform equipment routine maintenance, change filter and oil, lubricate
• Overhaul, replace.
• Maintain written repair records and provides them to the service manager
• Organize and clean work areas
• Test equipment and perform assigned work
• Maintains consistent safety policies and procedures of Tractor and Equipment Company safety manual
Physical Demands (Strength) – Very heavy-exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and / or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and / or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
