Before 2 West Boulevard, Alabama Steel Supply’s history could be traced through several addresses across Montgomery.

In 1912, Montgomery Iron, Rags & Metal Company operated at 514 South Ripley Street, next door to the family home at 515.

By the late 1920s, the business was operating at 316 Lee Street.

In 1952, it operated two yards: the main yard at 859 Bell Street and a second yard at 2811 Day Street.

The addresses changed. The company evolved. But the heart of the business remained the same: a family serving its community with quality steel, honest service, and work done with care.

We have been here for generations, and we intend to keep showing up for the next one, serving our customers with the same commitment to doing the job right.

The completed Sedgefield Pole Barn measures 100x208. As the video moves through the structure, you can see the scale, the open footprint, and the construction details that bring it all together.

Before the buildings, the equipment, and more than a century in Montgomery, there was a family.

These photographs show Jacob and Rosa on their wedding day in Romania in 1904, surrounded by family and friends.

They capture an early chapter in the family story behind Alabama Steel Supply. A story that began long before the company had its name, its first yard, or its current home.
Every family business has a beginning. This is part of ours.
