This summer, stop hunching over your projects. We size workbenches using a "two-height rule" for clients who switch between assembly and detail work. Set the bench at wrist height for your most repetitive task, then add a 4–6" riser platform for the second task. This way, you never have to hunch or tiptoe. For depth, lay out your three most-used tools end-to-end, then add 6" of catch space behind them. That's your minimum depth.
