"At Cooper Steel of Virginia, I work as a Production Engineer, which involves contributing to new projects and production needs. In my time at Cooper, I have led the charge for our new barcoding implementation, written SOPs, helped train employees across the team, contributed to our production schedule, and more.
I love working at Cooper because every day is different and provides new challenges and opportunities to learn. Understanding that my actions affect others not only at work but also at home motivates me to continue putting my best foot forward to learn, grow, and build relationships every day.
Starting as an intern at Cooper Steel of Virginia, I had no experience in the steel industry. However, the internship program gave me a great foundation for a career and opportunities for improvement. When it came time to accept a full-time role, I chose to come to Cooper as the position catered to my interests and learning expectations.
My advice to anyone interested in a career in steel or an internship at Cooper would be to come in with a willingness to learn, think outside the box, and ask lots of questions. This allows you to understand the processes better and identify areas for improvement.
I've enjoyed building relationships and watching the growth of our shop employees as they navigate change. Looking ahead, I'm eager to take on new opportunities and expand my experience."
