On June 21, 2004, Mike Melvill took SpaceShipOne rocketing through the sky and up past the Karman Line to complete the first privately funded spaceflight. After floating down in feather configuration and landing the little spaceplane back at Mojave Air & Space Port as a glider, he was awarded the first ever pair of FAA Commercial Space Astronaut Wings.
This weekend we are gathering to honor and celebrate Mike’s life, a live stream is available for those not joining us at the memorial in person: https://www.youtube.com/live/tmKB1GVzm10
