With football season starting up, you may have noticed that the Steelers logo looks pretty familiar!

The Steelmark symbol was actually created in 1960, marking that steel had become an industry-wide material.

The three astroids are traditionally yellow, orange, and blue, representing coal, iron ore, and scrap steel respectively.

The Pittsburgh Steelers started using the mark on their helmets in 1962 to promote steel manufacturers, and it’s stuck ever since!
