Belinda has been a valued member of the CGL family for 37 years. She will be greatly missed by her coworkers and clients alike. Retirement will allow her more time to enjoy her beautiful home on the water, her family and travel. We wish her the very best in this next chapter.

The Mobile City Council has approved a design contract with Clark, Geer, Latham & Associates, Inc. for a much-needed new animal services facility for the City of Mobile. A key member of CGL's team is Jackson & Ryan Architects, which has a long history in animal welfare design and architecture. Their shelter design focuses on keeping animals healthy, safe, behaviorally sound and happy. Their team has proven results across the country that increase adoptions and live-release rates, improve staff efficiency, and provide joyful experiences for visitors.

The design of animal welfare facilities is very specific. A modern animal shelter simultaneously acts as a shelter, a hospital, a retail center and an operations hub of animal control and other programs. Constructed in 1965, the current shelter is obsolete. With council approval, our staff is excited to work with the consultants and architects to design a modern facility that can accommodate the needs of the people and pets of Mobile for decades to come.

Getting the contract approved is the most recent step in a long and thoughtful process that the City's Animal Services Team has undertaken to ensure our animal shelter can accommodate the unique needs of our community and the programs and services we provide now and are actively working to bring online in the future.

CGL is proud of their long partnership with MCPSS and excited to be part of yet another great project that will enhance the education experience of Mobile County Students. The Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies is scheduled to open its doors August 2021.
