I had the privilege of touring the Hamm, Inc - Materials Recycling Facility in Lawrence, KS this week. Of all the seven recycling centers I have toured this one is by far the most state-of-the-art. So incredibly fine tuned. Thank you Charlie Sedlock for such a great experience. I admire all the fantastic ideas and directions you are taking single stream co-mingled recycling.

Had the opportunity to attend the Kansas Water, Energy, Land, & Food Forum last week at the state capitol building that was sponsored by the Climate Energy Project.

The opening inter-faith prayer vigil was beautifully presented and orchestrated. The advocacy session was extremely informative regarding the all the bills that are before the House with regards to water, energy land and food. I truly enjoyed visiting all the vendors booths and learned a lot there also.

Meeting with Senator Wolf, my State Senator, one on one was the highlight of my day.

RECYCLING TIP
Did You Know ....that one of the reasons recycling values are going down is because of all the contamination from non-recyclable items in the loads that are being received at the MRF (Material Recycling Facility)???

Since Recycling is my passion I am going to focus on improving knowledge of recyclables. DID YOU KNOW ... that plastic forks do not belong in a recycling container. Everything that is recycled must have an avenue open for it to be recycled by the collector. Plastic forks do not have this opportunity yet.
