Many of you know that I'm a carpenter by day, metal fabricator on evenings and weekends. Some of you have even found out I can cook and make an awesome line of seasoning blends. Some of you have called me to replumb your home or wire your shop. Some have called to have me bury livestock or beloved pets. While Windy Hollow Fab started as a joke per say, it has become something more. Many of my friends and customers use the phrase 'I know a guy... ' Yeah, I'm that 'guy'. Lol. I became that guy because of a thirst for knowledge and an obsession with creativity. A good friend of mine was asked once to come help build a Habitat for Humanity home where I was the Construction Supervisor. His response was 'I haven't figured out how to strike an arc with a dowel rod yet.' I basically laughed it off at the time and took that as he wasn't interested. Later in life I began to question that. I began to question his unwillingness to learn new things. I do not understand that way of thinking at all. A very wise man once said to me that knowledge is the only thing in the world you can sell and still keep. It's the only thing that no one can rob from you and you actually lose. It's something we can all share freely that really doesn't cost us anything to do so. So go learn new stuff. Try new things. Step outside of your comfort zone and give it a try. You never know when you'll find a new skill or passion or even a new career. Regardless, nothing ever gets accomplished unless you get up and try.
