Some more of the bores on the 980 I’ve been working on the first is the bottom of the lift cylinders there’s no way I could have done it without the bore welder very hard to get to the inside bores second was the bores on the upper part of the from frame fairly easy and the last was the fou bores on the top of the boom as you can see the welder is running nice which makes the cutting so much nicer

Some of the projects I have been doing in the last week first was a quick coupler off a large case Excavator 110 mm pins welded and bored ,second was a hitachi 200 Excavater bucket same welded and bored also mounted a hydraulic thumb and the third was lower centerpins in a caterpillar 980 loader welded and bored this one was two bores out of 22 bores they are doing a complete rebuild of the machine at the cat dealership I’ll post more on this machine .

A few jobs I did over the weekend and today first one was a good size thumb,7 feet long and weighed over a thousand pounds I did the mount and stiff arm also made the pins and bushings. The second is the cylinders on the suspension on the rear of a cat haul truck had spherical bearings with c clips bith went nice.

This is almost the most interesting job I’ve ever done .the boring job was a piece of cake where it was was a underground zink mine in western New York .the shop is 2500 ft straight down under ground the deepest part is 3800 ft the elevator that brings you down at 900 feet per minute and dark and dirty I have three machines to do down there doesn’t sound fun but very interesting.

This is a caterpillar 980 I started this past week I did the boom Friday next week I have to do the bucket and links definitely a learning curve with the bore welder but after getting it dialed in it’s the way to go , I’ll post pictures of bucket next week
