Work on John’s 67 Cuda continues with removal of the sound deadening using a new technique I’ve never tried before but will definitely use from now on.

14 plus hours or more with a torch/heat gun and scraper was reduced to 3 hours or less and nothing caught on fire with this method.

Next up is bracing the body with some square tubing since this is a convertible and the drivers side floor needs redone. Convertibles flex a lot more than hard tops if you’re wondering. It’s just a precaution.

The poor welding in previous repairs continue to come out of hiding sadly.

We just got in John’s 67 Cuda Convertible! Upon initial inspection non of the previous work he has paid for in the past ten plus years of two different “shops” having this car is nowhere near correctly done.

Not only are the welds unsafe do to any actual pe*******on they aren’t even supposed to be where they are in most spots, they should be spot welds.

This has unfortunately become very common in our industry as true skilled professionals and shops become rarer and rarer with nobody younger learning this trade.

We document everything when doing vehicles but it’s especially in situations like this where the client may want to bring a lawsuit against a previous shop which we highly encourage and support so people stop getting ripped off and getting unsafe vehicles back.

We will also go to court and testify on your behalf in front of a judge with a prepared presentation where we explain all the issues using pictures and experience to help you win.

Many cars like this are being “flipped” right now so we highly encourage you to get a classic vehicle thoroughly looked over before purchase which we also do.

Greed and incompetence are rife in this industry atm so it’s more important than ever to research who you use to restore a vehicle or when purchasing a vehicle.

Got the 68 firebird window out and it’s not looking good behind there. It’s typical of muscle cars especially to have rusting like this but this extends beyond what you see and the panels will have to be replaced in their entirety to be done correctly to avoid future rust issues.

We will also use cavity wax after weld through primer to ensure no future rust starting where you can’t see it and then it becomes visible (when it’s already too late).
