Gorman Fence, LLC., a fencing contractor in Killingworth, CT, wanted to add decks to its service list.

Diana Rossi, New England Territory Manager, EAS - led a 2.5 hour CHANCE University field training focused on how foot-pounds of torque translate to pile compression capacity. Brian Kipila, Field Training Specialist, EAS, added additional training support.

Diana Rossi went back to Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme, CT, three years after this project wrapped up.

Earth Anchoring supplied CHANCE RS2875.203 helical piles for this beachfront boardwalk's foundation. It begins at the entrance to West Beach by the railroad bridge, then continues along the shoreline and train tracks, and crossing over Bride Brook. Its extremely flat surface gives people of all ages, including strollers and wheelchairs, easy access to view the shoreline.

Construction in Norwalk, CT is underway for a new luxury residential property positioned along the waterfront of the Norfolk River Reach channel.

36 grouted high-capacity, 2-7/8 in. round-shaft helical piles were selected because they provide a deep foundation solution well-suited to the range of soil conditions commonly encountered at coastal sites.

Fire Prevention Week: October 4th - 10th 🧑‍🚒

At EAS, we believe fire prevention starts with awareness and preparation.

We’re proud to recognize the firefighters who put themselves on the line to protect others - including our own Volunteer Firefighters, Kevin Knecht and Orlando Keaveney.

We asked them what message they’d like to share about fire prevention:

A multi-year interchange project is underway in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This complex project is upgrading the heavily congested signalized intersection at the entrance to Joint Base Andrews with a high-efficiency diamond interchange. This will improve safety and handle the heavy commuter traffic to the base.

Earth Anchoring supplied CHANCE SS175 square shaft helical tieback piles to support the project's shoring system. Breslin’s knowledgeable team used a Cat 305 excavator equipped with a DIGGA Drive Head and TorqueHub monitoring system.

Challenging working elevations and unexpected soil conditions meant a few tiebacks came in at slightly lower torque than required. The team added one additional helical pile tieback, relocated one, and installed a few deeper to accomplish the job.

Materials Used:

- AB Chance SS175- 10"/12"/14" leads
- SS175 14"/14"/14" trailer extension
- SS175 extensions
- SS175 termination adapters, 1" DYWIDAG rods with nuts and 5"x5" plates

Finishing on time, Breslin's team completed the rest of the shoring, and the GC was able to move to the next phase of the job.
