Are you rebuilding your front end or replacing bushings soon?
If so, be sure to wait to tighten up the bolts with affected bushings until the vehicle is sitting back on the ground and under it's own weight.

Failing to do so can cause the bushings to prevent the vehicle from settling back down completely to its static height - they can artificially hold it a tad higher. The frame geometry magnifies this difference and your front can end up sitting higher than it should as a result. It's also hard on the bushings.

The video is not of a Vanagon, but nevertheless shows what happens to the bushing once the vehicle is lowered.

We stopped by Burley Motorsports to do some needed maintenance after spending 3 months deep in the Mojave desert - covering over 400 miles of dirt road and doing some testing.

BIG NEWS! Our Vanagon Westy springs got a nice upgrade at the factory this past manufacturing run that was just completed. The front springs are now wound from a lighter more exotic and expensive steel - and in the process have shed 2+ pounds each. That means less unsprung weight and thus better performance. And that’s why our springs are the lightest on the market.

We make upgrades to our springs at every opportunity and are always looking for ways to improve performance.
