Job Title: CNC Machinist/Setup
Reports to: Machining Manager
Department: Machining/Production
Summary: To setup, machine and produce production and prototype parts on CNC machines to customer/in-house specifications accurately and in a timely manner. CNC Machinists must be highly skilled and participate as important members of various lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but, are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
• Work from prints, sketches and verbal instructions
• Makes standard shop calculations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds and speeds, to machine a variety of materials efficiently
• Makes own setups using all shop support tooling such as vise, sine plates, rotary tables, etc.
• Machines all types of material including, but not limited to, aluminum, stainless, titanium, high and low carbon steels
• Proficient in the use of a variety of standard tools and precision measuring instruments
• Able to check your work
• Able to hold positional and size tolerance as required by drawing and or sketch
• Keeps detailed notes recording all work they have completed
• Measures and records dimensions of machined product as required
• Maintains compliance with all facility, local, state and federal safety standards
• Notifies department manager of any non-conformances/discrepancies in a timely manner
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Enters all labor hours into Epicor
• Proficiency in reading drawings, technical instructions and through knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Assure programs and associated documentation and files are saved per provided procedures and instructions
Qualifications & Skills:
• Minimum of 5 years shop experience on complex precision parts and tooling for aerospace and other advanced industries
• Experience in milling on 3 and 4 axis vertical and horizontal machining centers
• Experience in turning on both small and large parts on 2 axis lathe machining centers
• Through knowledge of shop math, measuring techniques
• Must be able to read drawings and engineering specifications
• High School Diploma plus education in trade schools and/or certified training in manufacturing Apprenticeship completion preferred
• Ability to communicate clearly with supervisor and coworkers. Must have good oral & written communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving limited variables in manufacturing process.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. May be required to operate hydraulic press or hammer form.
