Leadership Spotlight: Matthew D. Elrod

With nearly three decades of hands on experience in fabrication, gas plant construction, refinery expansions, and midstream infrastructure, Matthew brings a rare blend of technical depth and operational leadership to every project.
Born and raised in Casper, Wyoming, Matthew began his career in 1995 as a welder’s helper at High Country Fabrication. From there, he steadily expanded his expertise transitioning into welding and cutting automation, plant design using AutoCAD, and large scale fabrication management.
Throughout his career, he has:
- Designed and supported gas plant and refinery expansions
- Fabricated and packaged compressor units, line heaters, and combustors
- Helped implement Sarbanes Oxley compliance processes
- Built and led manufacturing divisions in the Permian Basin
- Automated welding operations and expanded production capabilities with advanced equipment including CNC plasma tables, SAW machines, and automated nozzle welders
In 2019, Matthew began working for EPCM companies to support operators seeking well designed, economically viable facilities that meet both federal and local regulations. His expertise spans ASME Sections IX, VIII Div. I, B31.3, B31.8, and API 1104 — disciplines critical to oil and gas infrastructure integrity.
What truly sets Matthew apart is his leadership philosophy. He prioritizes:
- Risk assessment and accident prevention
- Incident management and first aid preparedness
- Behavior-based safety observation
