Have you read the newest edition of The Green Zone? 🌱

This month we're looking at a detail that shapes many warehouse operators' day: the handoff between a conveyor and a workstation.

Get it right, and material flows to the operator at the right height, ready to work. Get it wrong, and you build small inefficiencies into thousands of repetitions per shift.

We walk through 6 key considerations engineers should evaluate before designing conveyor-integrated workstations, then show 3 proven integration approaches with real examples from custom builds our team has delivered.

Whether you're planning a new line or retrofitting an existing one, this is your practical frame of reference.

Also in this edition:
πŸ”§ How BOSTONtec partnered with Midland Public Schools Midland High School's CTE welding program to build shop equipment, finished by the students who'll use it

πŸ“Š Our Ergonomic ROI Calculator that turns workstation upgrades into the language leadership speaks: cycle time savings, injury cost reduction, and payback period

πŸ… BOSTONtec earned an EcoVadis Bronze Medal, placing us in the top 35% of companies assessed worldwide for sustainability.

The smiles at the Boys and Girls Clubs said it all.

A few months back, BOSTONtec and Case Systems Inc. got to work team building and bike building together as part of a company-wide event. Those bikes have now gone on to land in the hands of kids in our own backyard, and we could not be happier for them.

Here's a link to Case Systems' post. They captured some great video! (Link in the comments.)

This month's featured workstation was designed by an innovative footwear brand using our free 3D Workstation Builder, and the decisions behind it are worth unpacking.

The foundation is a heavy-duty electric height-adjustable base with an ESD laminate surface, built for precision work across long shifts without fatigue. Rising above it, a triple bay upright system carries everything: a heavy-duty adjustable height monitor arm, multi-depth steel shelving, adjustable tilt shelves, articulating bin holders, dual bin rails, and a pegboard. Overhead, a 56" LED fixture with a parabolic filter keeps the entire work surface consistently lit without glare.

Power, wire management, a keyboard and mouse platform, and a CPU holder take care of the rest.

Every component was configured in minutes using our free 3D Workstation Builder. No back-and-forth, no guesswork.

Automation is a powerful tool, but it's not a substitute for ergonomics. Case Systems Inc./BOSTONtec President Kelly Wehner, chair of the MHI Ergonomic Assist Systems and Equipment (EASE) Industry Group, makes this case in a recent MHI Solutions Magazine feature: wherever a human is still part of an automated process, ergonomic design must follow.

A fixed-height conveyor station, for example, might seem like a minor detail. But for workers of varying heights performing repetitive motions over long shifts, it's a real injury risk. The solution isn't more automation, it's smarter integration of ergonomics within automated environments.

At BOSTONtec, this is exactly what we design for. Adjustable, ergonomic workstations that keep pace with automation and keep workers safe doing it.

There's a reason BOSTONtec calls Midland home, and this new video says it better than we could. πŸ’›

The Midland Business Alliance's TalentX initiative just launched a new series spotlighting what makes our community such a special place to live and work, and watching it felt like a love letter to the city we're proud to be part of.

Midland has the kind of foundation that lets people put down roots: strong job opportunities, exemplary schools, top-tier healthcare, and a cost of living nearly 15% below the national average. But the heart of it is what happens after the workday ends. It's a city that works hard and lives well.

We're grateful to design and build right here in a community that values its people as much as its progress. Take a few minutes to watch, then send it to someone who'd love to call Midland home. πŸ‘‡

βœ” Monitor tilt for the ideal viewing angle
βœ” 27" x 10" keyboard tray with a padded wrist rest
βœ” Built-in cable channels to keep everything tidy
βœ” Supports monitors from 6–28 lbs

This Memorial Day, we remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is the reason we have the freedoms we do today. Every workday, every weekend, every moment spent with family and friends, is possible because of what they gave up. That's not something we take lightly, and today is a day to pause and reflect on everything that was given so the rest of us could keep moving forward.

We're grateful for the fallen, and for the families who continue to carry their memory forward. Thank you.

BOSTONtec is closed today, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day and will reopen Tuesday, May 26th.

When your team relies on power tools throughout the day, where those tools live between uses matters just as much as how they're used.

Power tool holders give drills, scanners, and other power equipment a dedicated home. They keep tools accessible when operators need them, and safely out of the way when they don't, so the worksurface stays clear for the task at hand.

It comes back to a core ergonomic principle: items that pertain to the current task belong within the reach zone, while everything else should stay on the workstation but out of the primary work area. Power tool holders strike that balance, reducing clutter, protecting equipment, and helping operators stay focused.
