Lythix, LLC is currently seeking an UAV Department Manager to join our UAV/Geospatial Department in Midland, TX. The UAV Department Manager assumes overall responsibility for the performance, management and supervision of the UAV Department, its personnel and assigned projects. The Department Manager manages and supervises a team responsible for the planning, design, ex*****on, monitoring and performance of UAV projects. They support executive management by reporting progress through informal and formal presentations and discussions regarding team KPIs, performance and goals. It is imperative that department managers share knowledge, communicate, and foster a positive relationship with other department managers in order to ensure a complete and professional product is provided to our clients.
Responsibilities
Support the company’s long-term vision and guide their team in support of this vision.
Ensures all department projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
Works well with others; subordinates, peers, executives and clients.
Monitor and optimize department goals and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
Supervise, resource and support department efforts and personnel.
Participates in the creation and adherence to department and company budgets.
Participate in company level goal setting and leads department level goal setting.
Coordinate and actively participates in ground and flight operations efforts including mission planning, ex*****on and briefing, debriefing, air / ground crew resource management, final data processing / deliverable development, and safety.
Responsible for planning and flying automated missions to gather imagery for orthographic maps, LiDAR, and thermal inspection of solar plants.
You will be trained in and responsible for flying BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) missions.
Ensures compliance with service guidance, company policy and procedures and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
May develop and verify procedures for use with new aircraft features and participate in the development of operational and safety procedures and training.
Knowledge of various unmanned aerial system hardware and software is strongly preferred.
Basic experience with conventional, and GPS surveying techniques, as well as possible experience in aerial ground control and topographic mapping.
Establish and maintain an environment of professionalism, consistency, procedure, and improvement.
Ensure project management excellence in preparation and coordination of proposals, schedules, and budget estimates for clients.
Assign and schedule work as required to meet client requirements, ensuring the highest quality and most efficient use of resources.
Responsible for quality assurance and quality control on all work performed by the department.
Real-time resolution of problems or jobsite obstacles with crews, customers, inspectors, etc. Participate in contract negotiations and change order preparation. Coach and mentor department team members.
Manage effective change control and risk management.
Oversee project meetings (project kickoff, client alignment, status meeting, progress review, etc.).
Support business development personnel and efforts by acting as a company liaison and participating in industry events.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, client representatives, inspectors, and managers of all levels.
Approve timesheets and expenses for direct reports.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must reside in Midland, TX area or be willing to relocate.
FAA Part 107 certification – required.
500 hours total flight time.
100 hours of which is on large UAVs (M-600 and larger)
Experience with both manual flight and automated mapping missions
At least 3 years of management/leadership experience.
Strong competence in estimating, bidding and cost negotiation as well as construction processes, methods, and materials.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative, problem-solving environment alongside demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Must have excellent oral and written communications skills, and be customer focused to appropriately identify and respond to clients’ technical and business needs.
Must be willing to travel as required by projects and assignments.
Preferences
Multiple platform UAV experience.
4-year degree.
Military or aviation experience.
Private Pilot license (part 61).
Level 1 thermography certification.
Oil and Gas Investigations (OGI) certification.
Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) experience.
