Massive Weathered Slabs? You're probably looking at Barnstone!

Barnstone itself is usually Sandstone or Limestone (and occasionally Granite) that was hand-cut and used to build the structural foundations of 18th and 19th-century barns, farmhouses and other structures. Its distinctive character comes from skilled masons using hand tools like ribbon chisels, leaving distinct individual scraping and chisel marks as well as years of exposure to the elements, giving it the weathered textures and old-world character that make it so sought after today.

And here’s the fun part: that same character can be brought into modern projects. 👏🤩

At Olde Heritage Stoneworks, we can take reclaimed barnstone and fabricate it into custom pieces for today’s projects — from steps and caps to coping, slabs, waterfeatures and more!

Every piece has its own story, and our job is to preserve that character while giving contractors the precision they need for a finished project.

Old stone. New purpose. Expertly fabricated.
