If you’ve removed oxidation only for your boat to fade again, the finish probably isn’t beyond repair. You’re likely missing one thing: protection.

Compounds don’t prevent oxidation—they remove it. Think of compound like an exfoliant: it removes damaged, oxidized gelcoat and restores the surface.

But oxidation is caused largely by UV exposure. So if you want the shine to last, you need sunblock—not just exfoliation.

That’s where protection comes in.

Think of it like this:
Spray wax = SPF 5
Wax = SPF 30
Sealant = SPF 50
Ceramic coating = SPF 70

For most boat owners, a quality sealant is the sweet spot: easy to apply, forgiving, and typically reapplied a few times throughout the season.

Then protect the protection. Harsh cleaners can degrade waxes and sealants faster, so use pH-neutral cleaners for routine washing.

The simple system:

1️⃣ Deep-clean/degrease annually
2️⃣ Compound with a water-based diminishing abrasive
3️⃣ Protect with a quality sealant
4️⃣ Maintain with pH-neutral cleaners
🔁 Repeat as needed

🛥️✨ Cleaning your boat: It’s not about never having to. It’s about not making it harder on yourself when it’s time to.

When someone invites aboard their boat, it’s a privilege. A responsible boat owner takes on all the cost and liability of entertaining their guests. As the boat owner, of course it’s important to be a good host, particularly when you are the one making the decision to have others aboard. But your absolute top priority is safety on the water, followed by whatever preferences or policies you have for your personal property. As a passenger, your role is to be considerate of the owner’s property, offer help and ask questions when in doubt. It’s an unspoken contract, similar to entering a person’s home. Everyone has different rules, but respect and common courtesy are universal. Share if you agree.

⚠️ 96% of mold growth begins undercover. Literally. When your boat is covered, particularly in the winter when moisture is trapped in the dark space underneath, mold, mildew and bacteria begin to grow. Even within short periods of time this can be the beginning of a problem that only appears later on. Prevention is inexpensive and won’t compromise the integrity of your boat’s interior. Even if you already use dehumidifier packets, coating your upholstery with protection can help guarantee your seats renew in mold-free. Don’t wait until it’s too late.
