Made from the old Tonseth family starter. There’s a little bit of the long history of the lower valley in every slice. Come and get some while it lasts, it won’t be long.

Late spring in the lower Methow Valley is amazing. Empty trails, beautiful views, flowers popping and quiet camp grounds.

Come visit while you’re passing through to all the rest the valley has to offer or make it your peaceful destination.

Either way stop by The Methow Store and will do our best to help set you up for a wonderful time here.

One of our commitments here at The Methow Store is to continue to find ways to reduce our impact on the planet.
We encourage everyone to bring their own shopping bags. As we only provide reused boxes to carry out items rather than paper or plastic bags to reduce a small amount of waste.
Participate in our take a mug leave a mug program. If you order hot or cold beverages to go, we encourage you to bring your own travel mug. If you don’t have one we have a selection of sanitized travel mugs and beverage containers you are welcome to borrow. Just drop it off next time you pass by the store.
Other ways we move towards reducing waste here at the store, we reuse, recycle and upcycle everything we can. From bottles becoming walkways, old doors becoming tables, food scraps going to the chickens, even our fountain was rescued from a landfill run and refurbished.
We are slowly moving away from plastic food containers wherever we can. You will find our delicious in house handcrafted sandwiches wrapped in wax paper rather than plastic. One little item at a time slowly adds up and makes a difference.
Our lovely shade sails in the garden are made out of coconut coir rather than traditional nylon sails that eventually go to a landfill. Our sails when finally worn out can be composted.
Please join us and help support change, as together we can all become the difference we want to see in the world.
Shop local and support local whenever you can.

North Cascades Highway remains closed over the pass from the west but you can reach Washington Pass from the east. Projected opening is now June 25th.

Only 54 years ago there was only a dirt road for high clearance vehicles over the cascades at Washington Pass and that was only opened in 1968. The paved highway was opened in 1972. The idea of the highway dates back to over 130 years ago in 1893 only one year before The Methow Store was established.

Look at the highway being closed as an opportunity rather than an inconvenience. You can still access the iconic Washington Pass in North Cascades National Park from the east side of the cascades. Take this opportunity to travel the roads less traveled. It’s a chance for exploration and adventure. Visit new places, new camping destinations towns you have not been to before. There is so much to be discovered along the way.

The usual destinations are all open and less crowded than they generally are this time of year which makes the journey well worth it. Discover all the lower valley has to offer on your way up to the Pass, Winthrop and Twisp. Take a moment and find the calm peaceful places rarely visited.

On your way in stop by The Methow Store, we have all the supplies you may need or want along with delicious food and beverages. Come explore the eastern gateway to the North Cascades. We can share ideas for local adventure as well. See you soon as you unlock new destinations and wonders.
