We’ve got some exciting news to share from our Richmond, Virginia operation! Yesterday, we held an informal ribbon cutting ceremony for a brand new, 100,000+ square-foot leased production facility that we’re calling South Campus. Located about 15 miles south of our current manufacturing nerve center, the commissioning of this new facility represents a major capacity increase for the company and will help us to better support our growing customer base.
Senior Sales Application Engineer Chris Strickler served as project manager for South Campus, alongside Corporate Director of Construction Dave Dingman, VP of Operations Brooke Hughes, Executive VP Matt Holland, and a slew of others. Leipertz Construction served as the general contractor on the project. A huge thank you to the team that made it happened, including Chesterfield County, which continues to be a tremendous partner for SRC, allowing us to grow our business and bring more skilled jobs to Central Virginia. And thank you to the Holt family, SRC’s principal owners, for their continued investment and commitment to building a truly world-class operation.
“This project took incredible problem solving and teamwork,” said Holland. “Our team at SRC, our contractor Leipertz, our equipment suppliers, and Chesterfield County officials all worked collaboratively and creatively to bring this facility online in record time.”
Hughes shared a similar sentiment and reflected on the significance of the new facility and what it means for those in SRC’s orbit.
“This is a huge day for all of us here,” she said. “When I think about this place, it is such an exciting day for our customers, our vendors, and for our people here…I can’t thank you all enough.”
Production at South Campus is underway and will ramp up gradually as training resources and additional staffing efforts are put in place. SRC plans to hire more than 100 employees to staff the new operation and capitalize on new available capacity in its Southlake Boulevard.
Thanks again to everyone who had a hand in making this new plant a reality – because if it has to be perfect, it has to be Super!
