Today Robert Eggerling, Master Mosiac Maker showed me a new little forge he made today. It was inexpensive and worked well. Made from a piece of 6” steel pipe, Kaowool, and a $10 plumbers torch.

Robert just created a new forge to work with metals that could contaminate his Damascus.

A new experiment using PEX Tubing to make a handle covering for knives. Robert makes a folded handle design from sheet 15N20 steel. He took a piece of PEX ( Cross Linked Polyethylene Tubing) and heated it until it became soft and put it over the steel handle and pressed it to fit tight. Rough up the smooth surface a little and it makes a nice grip. We have these knives available if interested.
