New things are coming to Dead Head Forge…

Over the last few months I’ve been trying to find new ways of making more money at every angle, and I think I finally found something new to give a shot. If I truly decide to give it a go I’ll be announcing the new service around mid July hopefully. Though the new service doesn’t involve any blacksmithing I’m hoping if it works out I’ll be able to combine the two on some jobs. I do want to say I’m not giving up on ironwork, but it will be something I will be offering quite a bit when my normal work is slow.

Even though I’m still in the works of getting it all figured out, and I still have a lot of figuring to do. I will give a hint and say it’s another style of building that I’m extremely passionate about. If I do decide to make a go at it the service will be added to my website for now. Along with a whole other page on social media to keep both businesses separate along with another LLC. Though I’ll still mainly be focused on the ironwork side, this will be considered the side hustle for atleast the first year until I see how things work out. Stay tuned for more updates!

It was a long, but a really good day getting the new firepot in the forge and getting this 25lb little giant power hammer stood up. The last couple of years that I’ve been up here in Fort Dodge doing demonstrations for them for their Frontier Days event. I’ve been wanting to take the time to get this hammer stood up and I finally have had the time. Which I couldn’t be happier to see this little hammer in action. I still have so adjustments to do, but atleast it’s finally able to run.

Well it’s been an interesting day of tearing the hammer apart with more to come. I ran the hammer for about a half hour yesterday trying to get some things made up for my event next weekend, and heard what sounded like a bearing giving out, well after spending most of the day just removing the pulley and the rest of the parts we’re fairly certain that one of the inner bearings is completely shot. So hopefully Thursday we’ll be able to get the gears removed and able to gain access to the bearing in question.
