ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY....

October 11, 1987: Memphis Ice Machine Company's owner, Bob Halfacre, was watching baseball when a fire tore through the Memphis Ice building on Elvis Presley Boulevard, taking new inventory and equipment with it. Bob had already bought a plot of land near the airport, though nothing was built on it yet. Insurance came through, and the team worked out of a half-burned building for nine months until the doors opened on Delp Street, the same building you know today, in the summer of 1988.

3:46 p.m. on Oct. 11, 1987 turned out to be a pivotal moment for our company, but sometimes the toughest moments turn out to be the ones that lead somewhere better.
